Nominee for Collectible Executive of the Year

Brahm Wachter is
SVP, Head of Modern Collectibles at Sotheby’s

Since joining Sotheby’s New York in 2019 and transitioning to the Los Angeles office in late 2020, Brahm Wachter has driven Sotheby’s dynamic expansion into streetwear, sports memorabilia, sneakers, trading cards, and modern collectibles. As Head of Modern Collectibles, Wachter has not only broadened the auction house’s portfolio but has transformed how collectibles are perceived and valued in the global market. He has spearheaded groundbreaking partnerships with leading sports brands — including the NBA, Fanatics, the US Open, Real Madrid – as well as luxury brands like Jordan Brand, Nike, Louis Vuitton and Off-White, positioning Sotheby’s at the forefront of contemporary culture and commerce.

Wachter has developed and curated landmark sales that blend cultural relevance with auction prestige. He spearheaded INVICTUS | PART I, an online-only single lot auction of Michael Jordan’s game-worn jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals, which shattered records by selling for $10.1 million—the highest price ever achieved for a game-worn sports item. He also guided Sotheby’s historic auction of Diego Maradona’s iconic 1986 ‘Hand of God’ shirt, which sold for $9.3 million, further cementing Sotheby’s position at the nexus of sports, culture, and collectibles. This year alone, Wachter has brought to market both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant’s rookie jerseys which sold for $4.2 million and $7 million respectively.

Wachter’s strategic vision and leadership have been pivotal in expanding Sotheby’s reach into new categories, attracting a younger, diverse, and globally engaged audience. His ability to integrate traditional auction expertise with emerging markets has positioned Sotheby’s as a cultural force and innovator in modern collecting.
